Old timer told me to stop cleaning sensor with a blower, he was right

At a shop meetup in Portland last month a retired repair guy saw me about to hit a sensor with my usual air blower and yanked my hand away. He said those little blowers just push grit around and scratch the low pass filter over time, especially on mirrorless bodies. I blew it off as old school paranoia until I got a stubborn dust spot that wouldn't shift after 4 tries. Switched to a wet clean with a swab kit he recommended, took 10 minutes, sensor looks brand new. Anyone else had a blown sensor ruined by those rocket style blowers or is it just me?
