Bought a $120 sleeping pad in Boise and my back still hurt, thinking about going back to a $25 foam mat
Three weeks ago I took my kid on a two night trip up to Payette Lake near McCall and my back was wrecked by the second morning, even on this inflatable pad everyone swears by. I'm a side sleeper and I keep waking up with my hip digging into the ground no matter how much air I let out. Did a test in my living room with a broom handle and the pad bottomed out at about 1.5 inches thick under my hip. My old $25 blue foam mat from Walmart never gave me this problem, it just took up half the trunk. Now I'm wondering if the pad is the issue or if I just need to sleep on my back like some folks say. Has anyone gone back to closed cell foam after trying an air pad, and did you regret it?
