Bumped into a guy on the Appalachian Trail who ranted about his broken tent pole for 20 minutes

He was using a $50 tent from a big box store and said 'I should have just bought the expensive one' but then asked me if I knew where to find a replacement pole for free, so where do you even draw the line with that logic?

And it's the same thing with everything now, people want top shelf results without paying top shelf prices. They'll drop money on a fancy coffee machine but balk at buying good beans, or spend hours hunting for a free pdf of a book they'd never read anyway. It's like everyone wants the shortcut to quality but refuses to actually invest in it.

@the_riley I get what you're saying, but sometimes the cheap stuff is all a person can afford.

My cousin once spent $200 on a cheap blender and it died after three smoothies.

Well, that's $200 worth of very expensive smoothies right there.
