Can we talk about how everyone says you need a $400 sleeping bag? My $70 one from Costco was fine for 3 seasons in Minnesota | Camping Gear Reviews - Freelance Forum - The Community for Independent Professionals
My buddy dropped $450 on a Western Mountaineering bag and yeah its nice but he still zips it open half the time because hes sweating. The $70 Costco bag is like 3 lbs and packs kinda big but who cares when you're car camping or doing a quick overnight. Minnesota gets down to negative 20 in January though so I wouldnt push the cheap bag past October unless you sleep hot. The real trick is a decent pad with an R value around 4, that matters way more than the bag in my experience. People just buy gear to buy gear honestly.
