My uncle swears by wool socks for cold camping and after 3 trips below 30 degrees I owe him an apology
He handed me two pairs of thick wool socks from his closet in Boise before my trip to the Sawtooths and I rolled my eyes because they cost $24 a pair. Three nights in the low 20s later, my feet were the only part of me that stayed warm while my cotton socks sat frozen in the tent corner. Anybody else made the switch, or do you still find cotton works fine if you change them before bed?
$24 for socks sounds nuts until your feet are the only thing not freezing at 2am lol. Cotton gets wet from sweat and then it's game over, so yeah wool wins but I'm not dropping that kind of cash on a full drawer of them.
