That $10 tarp I bought at a gas station actually held up better than my $80 Kelty one
I was dead set that cheap tarps are garbage until a thunderstorm hit my site in the Smokies last June. The gas station tarp didn't rip or leak, while my fancy Kelty one had a grommet fail after 3 uses. Anyone else find random gear that outlasts the expensive stuff?

You got me rethinking things honestly. I was the guy who swore by brand name tarps until a buddy's cheap blue one from a hardware store lasted three seasons without a single tear. Makes you wonder what we're actually paying for half the time.

Bet you could charge double for that gas station tarp if you slapped a brand logo on it with a sharpie. Funny how we pay for the name and get the same quality as the generic stuff these days. Guess the real scam is thinking expensive gear automatically means better.

Read an article that said the markup on outdoor gear is sometimes 400% or more, just for stitching a logo on. Guess quality is more about luck than the price tag.
