That time my $12 tarp kept me dry and my buddy's $300 tent didn't
Went camping up near Bend, Oregon last month and it rained sideways for about 10 hours straight. My buddy set up his fancy name brand tent and it started leaking through the seams by midnight, so he ended up sleeping in his car. I just strung up my cheap blue tarp over a ridge line and stayed bone dry the whole time. Anybody else find that the cheap basic gear sometimes just works better than the expensive stuff?
