Update: My old camp stove sputtered out on a trip to the Red River Gorge last month.
It was a basic two-burner I've had since college, and the regulator just gave up halfway through cooking dinner. Ended up finishing the meal over the fire, which was a nice throwback. Anyone have a solid replacement that's not super fancy?

What kind of budget are you working with? I've had my Coleman two-burner for years and it just won't die, but I know some folks want something lighter.

Used to believe the heavy old stoves were the only way to go for reliability. Then I borrowed a friend's newer lightweight model on a backpacking trip. The thing boiled water just as fast and didn't weigh down my pack at all. Changed my whole view on what you actually need for a good cook. Now I'd take the weight savings every time, even if it costs a bit more up front. Just have to pick a good brand.

Have you looked at the Camp Chef Everest? I got one after my old stove died on me mid-trip like yours, and it's been solid ever since. It's not the lightest thing out there but it boils water crazy fast and hasn't let me down yet.
