I stopped applying to jobs online for 60 days and got more interviews by showing up in person
Everyone keeps saying online applications are the only way now, but for me that was dead wrong. I sent 74 applications through the big job sites from January to March and got 2 callbacks, both rejections. Then a guy at a career meetup in Denver told me to just walk into smaller companies and ask for the hiring manager, so I tried it for the next 8 weeks. I visited 19 offices in person, talked to maybe 14 people, and got 6 interviews out of it. Two of those turned into offers, and I start at a logistics company in Aurora next month. It felt weird and awkward at first, but the online thing was clearly not working for me. Has anyone else had better luck just showing up instead of clicking submit all day?
