I used to think you had to stay at a job for at least two years, but now I leave after six months if it's wrong.

My buddy in HR says six month gaps are a huge red flag now. Looks like you can't commit. Companies want some stability, not a revolving door. Hard to build anything real that fast.

Doubt every HR person is on the same page about that. A six month break could be for a million good reasons, like what dylanrodriguez said about his cousin. Calling it a "huge red flag" just feels like old school thinking. Companies that actually care about people would ask about the gap, not just trash the resume.

That reminds me of something @victor651, my cousin took a year off to care for her mom and still got a great job. Guess it depends on the company.
