My uncle told me in 2007 that nobody would ever make money posting videos online

I remember him laughing at my cousin for uploading guitar covers to YouTube, and now that same cousin just bought a house in Nashville from his channel earnings, so who really got the last laugh here?

Respectfully disagree because his mistake was thinking back then would stay the same forever.

My uncle said the exact same thing to me about people making money from video games. I was totally on his side back then, I admit it. We'd watch those early YouTube videos together and just laugh at how silly it all seemed. But now I see my friend's kid making more from his gaming channel in a month than I do at my regular job. Technology and the whole internet economy just changed so fast, and people like my uncle and I were stuck in the old way of thinking. He was wrong because he couldn't imagine how big it would get, but honestly I was wrong right along with him.

That whole "it'll never last" mindset is so hard to shake off even when the proof is right in front of you.
