Spent $800 on a career coach who just told me to 'network more'
I hired this guy for a six week plan to help me switch into a project manager role. All we did was talk about my resume for two sessions and then he just kept saying I needed to go to more events and connect on LinkedIn. I tracked my time and spent about 15 hours on his tasks with zero real leads. For $800, I expected actual strategy, not the same basic advice you can find for free online. Has anyone found a coach or service that actually gave you a concrete plan that worked?

Honestly, I had the opposite experience. My coach broke down the exact steps to take each week, like who to message and what to say. Maybe you just got a bad one, because a good plan should give you clear actions, not just general tips.

My coach gave me a solid plan too, but I still had to figure out the actual conversations myself. The scripted messages never felt natural to me.
