That Tuesday my whole team walked out at once

I work in tech support for a mid-sized company in Austin, and last Tuesday was the worst day I have had in 5 years. Three people from my team put in their notice in the same morning. One guy had been there 8 years and said he just could not take the new project manager anymore. Another person left because their offer was 20k more somewhere else. By noon, our shift coverage went from 6 people to 3 people. I ended up handling 47 tickets by myself, which is way over what anyone should do. The worst part was the manager acted surprised and said we should be grateful for the stability. Has anyone else seen a workplace fall apart that fast and how did you deal with the extra load?

Managers always act shocked when people finally snap" yeah because they don't pay attention until it's too late. It's like they think we're robots with unlimited patience, then act all surprised when someone finally says "enough is enough." Honestly it just shows how checked out some managers are from the actual daily grind.
