The 3-line LinkedIn message that got me more replies than my 300-word ones

I used to write these long, detailed connection messages with my whole work history and it got me like 1 reply out of 10. Last month I tried sending just 'Hey, saw your post about X, I do Y, would love to pick your brain' and boom, 7 out of 12 replied. It felt rude at first because I thought I was being lazy, but people are busy and short works. Has anyone else found that cutting your pitch way down makes people more willing to chat?

7 out of 12 is wild, I don't think I've ever gotten that many replies even from short messages. I gotta try cutting mine down to one sentence tomorrow.
