Appreciation post: My $80 chalk line reel that survived 3 years on site

I bought a Tajima chalk line for $80 back in 2021 and it's still going strong after framing two additions and a deck. Dropped it off a roof twice, got sawdust caked in the mechanism, even ran over it with a skid steer once by accident. My buddy goes through those $20 Stanley ones every six months. This thing just keeps snapping straight lines no matter what I do to it. Anybody else got a tool that refuses to die?

You ever try just flipping the line around when it starts getting frayed? I always keep the original string but just swap ends once it gets fuzzy, works like a charm.

Oh man, that's wild! Did you ever need to replace the string or just keep using the original line?

Nothing personal but it's fishing line, not string.
