Heard a guy at the lumber yard say he never uses a speed square for layout
Said he just marks with a tape and pencil. That's how you get a wall that's out of square by a quarter inch over eight feet. Anyone else run into this kind of corner cutting?

My old boss swore by the tape method until a whole room of cabinets wouldn't fit. I keep a speed square in my pouch now.

A quarter inch over eight feet is a huge gap. That guy's walls must be wavy as heck.

Wait, is a quarter inch over eight feet really that bad? On a long wall, that's a tiny amount you can fix with trim. I've seen guys who only use a tape make straighter cuts than some guys with a square. @piper_garcia23, a wall can be solid without being perfect, you know? Sometimes the speed square just slows you down for no real gain.
