Pro tip: I compared a 4-inch dust port to a 2.5-inch on my table saw.
Honestly, I hooked up the bigger hose to my shop vac for a decking job last month and the difference in sawdust on the floor was crazy. Ngl, the 4-inch port pulled way more air and left almost nothing behind, while the smaller one just couldn't keep up. Has anyone else found a sweet spot for dust collection on smaller tools?

Guess the shop vac needs to hit the gym first.

Bigger ports can choke off airflow if your vacuum isn't strong enough. My old shop vac struggled to pull through a four-inch hose, leaving more dust than a smaller, tighter connection. You need the right match between the tool port and your collector's power.

So your vacuum basically had stage fright with a bigger hose? That's like trying to run a marathon after skipping leg day, all show and no go. Sounds like it needed a smaller opening to actually build up some suction power. Maybe we should start rating shop vacs on their commitment to the connection.
