Switched from a circular saw to a track saw for breaking down plywood and my cabinet gaps closed up
Spent two weekends fighting tearout and wavy cuts on 3/4 inch birch ply with my old Skilsaw before I borrowed a buddy's track saw, and the difference on the first rip was night and day. Anyone else make that jump, or do you just clamp a straightedge and keep the circular saw?
Honestly the tearout problem usually comes down to blade choice more than the saw itself, a good 40T+ blade on a circular saw with a straightedge gets you pretty close for a fraction of the cost. Track saws are slick but I can't justify one when a clamped edge and some painter's tape on the cut line has worked fine for me.
