Vent: saw a crew in Portland framing with a 40 year old Skil worm drive and no one under 30 knew how to set the blade depth
Watched three apprentices in a row bury a circ saw blade into a 2x10 until the old guy running the crew grabbed it and did it in one pass, so I have to ask, is teaching blade depth even happening anymore or is it just assumed the saw knows what it is doing?
Kicking back a blade is way more likely on old worm drives than the newer saws with electric brakes, so those kids may have picked up a bad habit that just hasn't bitten them yet. My grandpa drilled depth and body placement into me for the same reason he made me wear safety glasses, he'd already watched somebody get hurt.
