Watching people cut crown flat against the miter saw fence makes my eye twitch

I was helping a buddy on a job in Springfield last week and saw his crew putting up crown molding by just laying it flat on the saw table. That's how you get gaps at the ceiling every time. The spring angle matters, you have to tilt the piece so the back sits against the fence. I had to show them how to set the saw to 31.6 degrees for a 38/52 crown. How many of you still see this done wrong?

Exactly, it works until you hit a tricky corner or need a tight reveal. Then that flat cut method falls apart fast.

Yeah, it's solid for basic stuff.
