Found a stat about carpet waste that shifted my thinking
I was reading through some CARB reports last week and saw that over 4 billion pounds of carpet goes to landfills every year just in the U.S. That number hit me harder than I expected. I always figured recycling was more common, but apparently only about 5 percent gets reclaimed. Has anyone here actually found a reliable recycler in the Midwest that takes post-install scraps?

That stat blew my mind too. I found one place outside Chicago that takes scraps.

Wow, I can't even manage to recycle my Amazon boxes so that carpet stat makes me feel like a total environmental failure...

Holy crap, only 5 percent? That's basically nothing. I figured recycling was way more common too, not some tiny fraction of the total. Makes you wonder where the other 95 percent is even going.
