Just realized I was wrong about those knee kicker pads everyone swears by

For years I thought the fancy gel pads were a total gimmick, just a way to charge extra for something a folded towel could do. Then I had a job with a huge open floor plan in a new build, over 2000 square feet of Berber that needed stretching. My knees were killing me after day one. A guy on the crew lent me his set, the kind with the blue gel insert. I used them for the next two days and the difference was night and day, no more sharp pain from the pressure. I still think they're overpriced, but I bought my own pair the next week. Has anyone found a decent brand that doesn't cost a fortune?

Maybe check if your tool bag's shoulder strap padding can be swapped in.

No kidding, I've got an old Klein bag that's the same way - everything is stitched down tight with no room to swap anything. That trick only works if you've got a newer bag with modular padding, which is rare as hell for most tool bags out there. Took me forever to find a setup that didn't dig into my shoulder after a few hours on site.

Swapping the shoulder strap padding on a tool bag? That's a new one for me. Honestly didn't know that was even possible on most bags. Mine is all stitched together like a cheap suitcase, no way to swap anything without tearing the whole thing apart. Sounds like the kind of trick you'd have to learn from a forum deep dive or years of trial and error. Would be nice if more bags came with that option built in, instead of just wearing down until the strap cuts into your shoulder. Pretty clever idea if you've actually got a bag that lets you do it.
