Lost a full day's pay because I skimped on seam tape

Tried using a no-name seam tape I picked up at a discount flooring store near me in Cleveland. Ended up with three seams popping on a 12x15 bedroom and had to rip it all out and redo it the next day. The cheap tape cost me $12 but wasted about 8 hours of work and material. Anyone else get burned by bargain supplies like this?

Read somewhere that cheap seam tape fails because the adhesive can't handle temperature changes.

Did you have to eat the whole material cost too on top of the lost time? That stings, I've been there with trying to save a few bucks and regret it immediately.
