Nailed the pattern match on a tricky berber install today.

Seeing it lay smooth with no bumps made the whole day better.

What seaming method kept it from pulling apart later?

Honestly, berber can be a big problem long-term even if it looks perfect at first. Those tight loops catch on everything, and any small pattern mismatch will stand out once you move furniture in. I've seen jobs that looked great start to pull up near doors after a few months. The smooth start doesn't guarantee it will last.

Totally, the_jordan is onto something. My friend's brand new berber looked amazing until her cat discovered it was the world's best scratching post. A single loose thread near the hallway turned into a huge pulled line across the whole room within a week. Now you can see exactly where every seam is because the pattern got all warped. It's crazy how fast a small thing becomes a huge eyesore.

Ugh, did your friend's cat pull the thread all the way to the seam? My parents had a berber where one snag from a chair leg just kept unraveling down the whole hallway. It looked like a little river running through the carpet after a while.
