Overheard a guy at the supply house say carpet is dead, had to bite my tongue

Was grabbing tack strip at the place off I-95 in Richmond and some installer was telling the counter guy that LVP is taking 90% of his work now. I get it, vinyl is easy, but we just did a 4,000 sq ft commercial job in a law office last month, thick cushion backed stuff, walked out $6,800 richer. Anyone else hearing this doom talk and still lining up more carpet than they can handle?

Nobody talks about the acoustic side of things. Walk into a lobby with marble floors and echo everywhere, sounds like a gymnasium. Carpet soaks all that up, makes a place feel professional and quiet. Vinyl can't do that, period.
