Remember when we used to cut everything with a knife?
Three years ago, I was on a big job in Tempe, a whole house of that dense commercial loop pile. My old boss insisted we use hand knives for every cut, said it gave you more control. Last month, I was helping a new guy who brought out a hot knife for the seams. The difference was night and day, no more fuzzy edges or pulling threads. Just last week, I did a bedroom myself with my new Crain 725 cutter and finished the cuts in half the time. It got me thinking about all the old ways we held onto, like mixing seam sealer in a bucket instead of using the cartridges. The tools keep getting better, but part of me misses the quiet focus of that old method. What's one tool or method you've changed your mind about in the last few years?

Wow, I finally switched to a power stretcher last year and it changed everything.
