Saw a stat that 9 out of 10 carpet complaints come from stretching, not the carpet itself
I was reading through an old installer forum thread from 2019 and a guy who taught at a trade school in Ohio said something like 9 out of 10 complaints he saw were stretch related, not a bad carpet. That number hit me because I always blamed the mill when a homeowner called back about wrinkles. Then I thought about the last 15 callbacks I did and yeah, most of them were rooms where the guy before me just knee kicked it and called it done. How many of your callbacks come down to stretch instead of the product?
That stat sounds like it came from a guy selling stretching. Blaming the install is the easy answer every mill loves because it gets them off the hook. Cheap backing, bad latex, thin face yarn, that stuff wrinkles no matter how hard you kick it. Callbacks are rarely one thing, and I have pulled up plenty of carpet that was stretched tight and still rippled two months later.
