Showerthought: The way we handle carpet seams has totally flipped
Honestly, I used to just glue down seam tape and call it good, but about five years ago I switched to using a hot melt seaming iron on every job. The difference in how long the seam holds is night and day, especially in high traffic areas. Anyone else made that switch and noticed fewer callbacks?

Seems like overkill for most homes. A proper tape job lasts years if it's done right. People just like buying new tools.

Ever notice how this happens with everything now, @laurablack? It's like we're told the old way is never good enough, so we buy a special tool for each tiny job. My grandpa fixed half the house with a hammer, a screwdriver, and some decent tape.

Honestly @laurablack, you're not wrong. Tbh my garage is full of single-use tools I swore I needed. Bought a fancy caulk gun for one bathroom project, used it for ten minutes, and now it just judges my regular tape jobs from the shelf.
