The apartment complex that taught me to check subfloor moisture before quoting
Had a job last summer at a 12-unit complex near Portland where the concrete slab felt dry to the touch. Started laying glue-down carpet in unit 4 and by the second room the adhesive was bubbling up like soda. Turns out the slab had a high moisture reading from a slab leak that the property manager forgot to mention. Cost me an extra day of demo and redo work plus $180 in wasted adhesive. Now I bring my moisture meter to every estimate, even the small ones. Anyone else run into hidden moisture issues that only show up mid-install?
