The homeowner in Austin who shadowed me with a tape measure

Guy measured every drop I made and asked why my seams weren't perfectly straight, even on a textured loop pile where you couldn't see them anyways. I showed him the chalk line and he spent 20 minutes checking it with a level, then offered me coffee like nothing happened. Anyone else run into customers who think carpet installs are laser-guided surgery?

Did he check the studs with a stethoscope too?

Honestly, that's a bit harsh. A stethoscope is just another tool for finding loose stuff, and if it helps catch a problem before drywall goes up, that's a win. Yeah it looks a little extra, but better safe than sorry when you're paying for a house.
