Warning: laid 80 yards of berber in a Kenner office and popped a seam right at the doorway
Back in 2011 I was doing a small office job in Kenner, about 80 yards of berber through five rooms. Everything was going fine until I hit the main doorway, and my power stretcher popped a seam right along the transition strip. The building manager was standing there watching me. I had already trimmed the seam tight, so it was too late to just re-stretch the whole thing. What I did was pull up the bad strip, cut a new piece from my drop, and re-seamed it with a fresh row, then weighted it down overnight with a couple of buckets of glue. Came back the next morning and it held fine. These days I always leave a little extra drop at doorways just in case, learned that one the hard way. Anybody else pop seams at transitions because you cut too close to the wall?
