A $12,000 lesson from a coffee shop in Boise
I was waiting for a check from a big client, and I saw them having a fancy lunch at a place I couldn't afford. I called them right there, and they paid me the next day. Some folks say that's too pushy and hurts the relationship, but others think you have to call out bad behavior when you see it. What's your take on confronting a client in public over a late payment?

Yikes, I'd probably trip over my own feet on the way to their table... but good for you for getting paid.

I saw a study once that said 80% of people have a core fear of looking clumsy in public. It's why folks rehearse their coffee order or panic when a waiter asks a follow-up question. That trip-on-your-own-feet feeling is basically the default setting.

Honestly, I'd be more worried about them seeing me at the cheap place across the street. But hey, it got the check cut.
