Chatted with a retired contractor at the lumber yard who said he never let a job go past 30 days unpaid and I felt like a chump for being nice.

He told me I was basically training customers to pay late by not putting a hard stop at 30 days, and now I'm wondering if my 60 day grace period is why half my invoices from last quarter are still sitting there, anyone else have a guy make you rethink your whole payment system?

My neighbor used to run a food cart and switched to cash only after someone paid him in homemade pickles to settle a 90 day tab. Now he says the only grace period he believes in is between bites of a taco.

Your grace period is definitely the problem, not being nice.

Read an article saying grace periods can actually hurt relationships, not help them @bell.jessica.
