Rant: The whole 'send a reminder at 30 days' thing seems backwards to me
I keep hearing people say wait 30 days then send a gentle nudge about invoices. But in my experience that just trains clients to ignore you until day 40 or later. Last month I tried the opposite - I sent a polite check-in 3 days after a $1,200 invoice went out. The client paid in 6 days flat and even thanked me for the reminder. On the flip side I have a client from Denver who I waited 30 days with and they took 4 months to pay. So which is better - early reminders or the standard wait? Has anyone else tested this timing thing and seen a real difference?

Honestly I was on the other side of this for years... I always thought you had to give people space and wait the full 30 days. But this post actually made me rethink that whole approach. I tried the early reminder thing on a few invoices last week and it worked way better than I expected. One client paid in 4 days and even said thanks for the heads up. Now I'm wondering if the whole waiting game is just teaching people that it's okay to put you off. Feels like getting paid faster is worth the risk of seeming a little pushy.

Pushing people early just makes you look desperate @shanes66
