Shoutout to the $60 quick fix that turned into 9 days of my life
The water heater in my rental duplex died on a Friday morning and I figured it was a 2 hour swap since the old one was only 6 years old. Turns out the shutoff valve snapped when I touched it, which meant calling a plumber, waiting on a city permit, and hauling the new tank up from the basement twice because the first one was the wrong height for the vent pipe. Has anyone else had a "simple" repair snowball like that, and do you pad the timeline when you quote the job?
