Shoutout to the bookkeeper in Cleveland who called my invoice terms stupid and fixed my cash flow
She said net 30 was me volunteering to be a bank, so now half my jobs bill 50% up front and the rest on delivery. Anyone else have a client push back hard the first time you asked for a deposit?
Watched my neighbor go through the same thing with his landscaping guys. He fronted all the material costs on a big job and the client sat on the check for two months while he was floating everything on credit cards. It's wild how we all just accept that getting paid late is normal in some lines of work. Think about it, a restaurant would never let you eat first and pay whenever you feel like it. Once you start asking for money up front, the people who were never going to pay you anyway weed themselves out pretty quick.
