The $4,700 check that arrived with a hand drawn treasure map on the envelope
Three years ago a contractor in Reno owed me $4,700 for six weeks and kept dodging my calls, so I finally showed up at his job site on a Tuesday morning and he handed me an envelope covered in a crayon drawing of a pirate ship with an X marking the check inside. He laughed and said he wanted to make sure I remembered him next time I thought about sending anything to collections, and honestly it worked because I still tell this story at every property meeting. Has anyone else gotten a late payment that was so weird you almost forgot to be mad about the money?
