The gentle reminder email stopped working around 2021 for me

I used to send a quick 'hey just checking in' and get paid within a week, every time. Now I send the same tone and it just sits there for a month. Started adding a specific date and a late fee note in the subject line and that flipped things around. Anyone else notice the old soft approach just dies now?
