I used to think my old, dull knives were fine until I cut my finger to the bone in a rush last Tuesday.

Oh man, that's a rough way to learn. I gotta say, a dull knife is only safer if your main goal is to crush a tomato instead of slice it. That whole "won't slip" idea falls apart when you have to use way more force and it goes somewhere you didn't mean. A sharp knife goes where you aim it. A dull one... well, it finds its own path to the bone.

Dull knives are actually safer, they don't slip as easy.

Guess you've never tried to cut a carrot with a butter knife, @jamiesullivan.

Watch a chef use a sharp knife sometime, it's way safer.
