Pro tip: the $280 I spent on a proper knife roll saved my back and my blades
I hauled my whole kit around in a canvas duffel for 4 years until my lower back started screaming at me after a 12 hour Saturday at the spot on Grand. Dropped $280 on a real 10 slot knife roll with stiff canvas and a shoulder strap and I'm not going back. The blades stopped getting nicked up in transit because nothing slides around anymore, and I can actually find my boning knife without digging through a pile of towels. My old duffel was $30 from a surplus store in Chicago and it ate two cheap paring knives before I gave up on it. Yeah 280 bucks stings when you're making line pay, but my back stopped hurting and my daily driver gyuto still has its edge. Somebody on here will say you can wrap everything in a towel and be fine, and honestly you can, until you can't. What's your setup for hauling knives between gigs, and did you ever regret going cheap?
