Found out creosote buildup can self ignite at 451 degrees
I was reading through NFPA 211 specs last night and nearly choked on my coffee when I saw the actual ignition temp for creosote deposits. That's way lower than I assumed, and it means a decent firebox temp after a long burn cycle can do it without any sparks involved. Has anyone else checked what their local code says about minimum sweep intervals with that number in mind?
