Just realized my annual check-up reminders are pointless

I send out postcards and emails every spring to remind folks about chimney inspections. Most of them end up in the trash or get deleted. Come winter, I get panic calls about smoke backing up into homes. These jobs are messy and take way longer than a regular sweep. I have to explain why it costs more, and customers get mad at me. It's frustrating because I'm trying to prevent problems, but no one listens. I feel like I'm wasting paper and time for nothing. Maybe I should just stop sending reminders and let them learn the hard way.

Disagree with @ward.tara, phone calls just mean more time wasted talking to people who already ignore you. Let the panic calls roll in, that's where the real money is anyway.

PERSONAL phone call reminders cut through the noise better than mail. Customers actually hear the urgency in your voice about winter prep. That direct touch could prevent the messy panic jobs later.
