Rant: Dropped $300 on a 'premium' liner kit that failed after 2 months

Installed that stainless steel liner from the big box store and the crimping joint gave out on a job in Cleveland, nearly sent smoke pouring into a client's living room. Anyone else had cheap liner kits come apart on them, or did I just get a bad batch?

Wait, which brand was it exactly? I went through three of those "premium" Century liner kits in under six months before I finally gave up on them entirely. The crimps on mine started separating around the 500 degree mark on a wood stove install, and I'm wondering if you noticed any warping near the joints before yours actually failed.

lol nah man I never had any warping with mine, but maybe you just got unlucky with a bad batch or something

That 500 degree mark is EXACTLY where my crimp let go too. I was standing right there and heard this little ping sound before smoke started seeping out - scared the crap out of me. Guess my college degree in "buying the expensive option ain't always the answer" finally paid off.
