Showerthought: I used to eye-ball flue measurements until I dropped a brush down a 40-foot stack in Toledo

Back in my early days I'd just guess the length based on the roof pitch. Then last spring I had to fish a brush out of a tight bend on a job near Summit Street. Now I always triple-check with a marked tape and secure the brush with a secondary clip. Has anyone else had a tool get stuck in a tricky spot and had to get creative?

Ha! Oh man, I've been there with a magnet on a string too, what a mess that turns into.

Sucked a 30 foot cable right out of my hand once on a steep metal roof in the rain. Spent the whole afternoon with a magnet on a string trying to fish it back. Now I tie a bright orange flag to every brush and tape measure before I even start walking up. Its a lesson that sticks with you.

Yeah, a magnet on a string sounds like an afternoon well spent to me.
