I finally put a battery tender on my 67 Beetle after 8 winters of pulling the battery
I always figured a $40 tender was a gimmick and just yanked the battery out every November, but a guy at the Lansing show showed me his 30 year old Optima still reading 12.6 volts on the same tender. Mine fired up on the second crank this April instead of the usual 20 minutes of cursing. Anyone else keep theirs hooked up year round or do you still pull it?
Ran the same setup on my 64 for the last five years and it's night and day. I used to yank the battery every fall and still fight with it in spring, but now it sits on the tender in the garage all winter and fires right up. My old Sears charger was cooking batteries, the tender just keeps it topped off without overdoing it.
