I picked a metal carport over a fabric garage tent for my 67 Impala and I'd do it again
Last spring I had to decide between a $1,800 fabric garage tent and a $3,400 metal carport for my 67 Impala, and I went with the metal one even though it hurt to spend almost double. The tent guys kept pushing the cheap option but I read too many forum posts about condensation building up under those covers and rusting the roof. The carport has open sides so air moves through, and after 14 months in the Houston humidity my trunk pan looks the same as the day I parked it. I did add a gravel pad underneath and sealed the posts with foam so rain doesn't splash up on the rockers. The fabric tent would've been toast after one good hailstorm anyway. Curious if anyone here runs a fully enclosed metal building and whether the extra $6k is actually worth it for keeping dust off.
