Warning: my uncle's "dry" shed in Modesto rusted out a 1966 Mustang fender in 3 months
My uncle parked his 1966 Mustang coupe in his backyard shed in Modesto about three years ago, and he swore it was dry enough. Turns out the shed had no vapor barrier and the concrete floor sweated all winter. When he pulled the cover off two months ago, the passenger fender had a rust bubble the size of a quarter and the chrome bumper was pitted. He lost about $800 on the fender repair alone, and the guy who fixed it said the moisture had been sitting under the tarp for at least two rainy seasons. I keep telling him to get a dehumidifier and a real barrier down, but he just says it's fine. Has anyone dealt with a shed setup like this, and did a cheap vapor barrier actually fix the sweating?
