She said the Tuesday updates I'd been sending for 3 projects in a row just made her feel behind, so now I only ping when something needs a yes or no, and funny enough nobody has vanished on me since.

That matches what I keep seeing too. Had a guy on retainer who went quiet for like two months and I was sure I was losing him, turns out he was just tired of getting updates on stuff that was already handled. Since I cut back to only reaching out when there's an actual decision to make, he replies within a day every time. People want to feel like they're moving forward, not like they're sitting in a never ending meeting. Funny how doing less got me better results.
