Just realized my whole ghosting fix was a 50% deposit, but now I am not sure it is right
A guy in Denver ripped me off for $2,200 on a logo job when I was 24, and a freelancer friend in Portland told me flat out that I was dumb for starting anything without money up front. So I now ask for 50% before I open a file, and no joke, 2 people have walked away in the past 6 months. Half of me thinks I just filter out the flakes early and should bump it to 60%. The other half wonders if I am losing real work to people who would have paid fine at the end. Where do you all land, money first or invoice at the end and just eat a few losses?

Learned that lesson the hard way too, minus the logo, just a guy who vanished with my money.
