Rant: lost a $2k web job after 4 rounds of calls, so now I ask for a deposit before the first kickoff
Back in 2022 I'd do free discovery calls for weeks and get burned when the project died, like the guy in Austin who vanished after the third Zoom. Now I send a short contract with a 30% upfront fee, and funny enough the real buyers pay it same day while the time wasters disappear on their own. Anyone else notice the deposit filters out the ghosts before you waste a month?
